Assistant Professor in Asian Studies

Full-time
Application Deadline: Oct 31, 2024
Academic

The University of Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Affairs invites applicants for two Assistant Professors focused in the areas of media and communication studies and translation studies, with regional specialization in Asia. We seek candidates who pursue an active, interdisciplinary research agenda informed by relevant critical theory, contributing to the understanding of the role of media, communication, and/or translation in public and private life and in global affairs. We are especially interested in scholars whose work brings together aspects of East Asian or South Asian cultures with aspects of the study of politics and the concept of democracy.  Duties include research, teaching and service.

The professorship will be based in the Keough School, which promotes interdisciplinary and policy-relevant research on critical issues in global affairs, transformative educational programs, and partnerships for global engagement. The Keough School approaches global affairs and development through a focus on integrated human development, which is also central to the University of Notre Dame’s mission. The successful candidate will also be appointed as an affiliated faculty member of the Keough School’s Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, which provides a forum for integrated and multidisciplinary research and teaching on Asia, both within the Keough School and across the University as a whole.
