The Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy at the University of Missouri invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow in political science for researchers whose work examines the political development and political thought of the early United States. Candidates' research areas might include American political development and thought, and its connections to contemporary U.S. politics, political institutions and processes, constitutional law & theory and related areas. We also welcome applications from scholars whose research examines political development and thought within a transatlantic context.

The Fellowship is a full-time position that comes with a competitive salary, university benefits, an office at the Kinder Institute, and dedicated funds for conference travel, research, and other professional expenses. Funds are also available to help offset moving costs. The fellowship is renewable for up to three years.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will have an annual teaching load of 2-1 or 1-2. These courses will include small, discussion-based seminars associated with the common curriculum for the Kinder Institute’s B.A. in Constitutional Democracy, a team-taught online section of American Government, and potentially an upper division class on American political development.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a Ph.D. or an anticipated Ph.D. in Political Science or Government, completed by August 2025.
