The Reproductive Freedom Alliance (RFA) is a nonpartisan coalition of Governors committed to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom. The Alliance supports Governors and their staff in proactively coordinating and developing strategies to strengthen reproductive rights and health care access across Alliance states. RFA is a fiscally sponsored non-profit project of Global Impact and is supported by the Governors Action Alliance (GovAct).

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Policy Associate supports the Policy Director in developing and coordinating public policy work for RFA. This includes researching state reproductive health and rights policy, creating policy resources, and supporting policy workshops and convenings.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Policy Director, research and draft memos, briefs, and other materials related to state reproductive health policy, with a focus on contraception.
  • Collaborate with RFA staff in developing convenings and workshops for RFA members and external partners.
  • Track state policy on contraception and other issues across the country.
  • Work with the Policy Director and RFA staff to develop and update accessible policy resources and tools, and develop and refine processes for sharing information about pending issues.
  • Travel to sites of events and workshops as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Success in this role will require an experienced professional who possesses many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes, and experiences:

  • B.A. or equivalent experience required; MPP, MPH or other relevant advanced degree a plus.
  • At least three years of relevant professional or educational experience demonstrating state public policy analysis and advocacy skills specific to public policy, public health, and/or reproductive health, and including reviewing statutes, regulations and/or administrative policies.
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
  • Experience conducting policy research and communicating policy information to multiple audiences.
  • Deep understanding of state government operations and public policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a proven ability to plan, prioritize, and organize effectively.
  • Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft programs.
  • Experience coordinating meetings and events, synthesizing information shared by experts, and developing externally facing materials.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and sensitive situations with good judgment and demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Inquisitive, intuitive, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize competing obligations.
  • Ability to manage relationships with staff and partners at all levels.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000, depending on experience. RFA provides all employees 12 paid holidays and 30 paid days off.
