The Stanford Graduate School of Education invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work with Professor Katharine Sadowski on research examining how local, state, and federal policies shape the supply of early childcare. The project aims to produce new evidence on childcare supply elasticities and the factors influencing provider entry, exit, capacity, and quality across diverse markets.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with restricted-access Census data and hold Special Sworn Status (or be eligible to obtain it). Applicants should have a Ph.D. in economics, public policy, education, or a related field by the start date, strong quantitative and econometric skills, experience coding (in Stata, Python, R, and/or SAS), and an interest in applied policy research. The fellow will have opportunities to co-author papers, present at conferences, and collaborate with faculty and graduate students across Stanford.

Applicants should submit a cover letter describing research interests and fit for the position (500-750 words), a CV, a job market paper, and three references (only provide names, titles and email address for submission). For full consideration, applications should be received by December 15, 2025. Application review will begin mid-January. Questions may be directed to Katharine Sadowski, [email protected].
