The University of Delaware (UD) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position within the School of Marine Science and Policy at its Newark campus. This 9-month position has an anticipated start date of Fall 2026. We seek a social scientist whose research addresses the policy, legal, and/or economic dimensions of contemporary ocean resource use. The successful candidate will contribute to an interdisciplinary intellectual community through teaching and research related to the blue economy. We welcome applicants with a PhD (and/or JD) from a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to sociology, law, public policy and administration, political science, international relations, management science, engineering, economics, and anthropology. We are interested in scholars whose work is analytically rigorous and empirically driven by qualitative or quantitative methods. Your research does not need to focus exclusively on ocean-related topics, but they should be a significant portion of your research portfolio. The successful candidate will work with the School Director to develop a teaching portfolio with a workload of two 3-credit hour courses per year. The courses will balance the person’s areas of expertise and needs of the SMSP and may include graduate and/or undergraduate courses.
