The Department of Political Science invites applications for a tenured position in Public Administration at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, beginning August 1, 2027. Tenure will be offered at the Associate Professor or Full Professor rank, depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications. The successful candidate will begin serving as the Director of Graduate Programs in Political Science on August 1, 2028. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Public Administration, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, or a closely related discipline. While we seek outstanding candidates in the field of public administration broadly, preference is given to candidates who best fulfill our instructional and programmatic needs in local government, urban economics (or economic development more broadly), and quantitative analysis for public administration. Candidates are expected to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The salary is competitive.
The Department of Political Science houses the NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Affairs (MPA) program. The primary responsibility of the Director of Graduate Programs is to lead the MPA program, which serves the region and state via courses offered on campus in the evening. The MPA program offers an online graduate certificate program in Nonprofit Management and an on-campus graduate certificate program in Urban and Economic Development. The graduate program enrolls approximately 100 students each year, including 55 to 60 MPA students.
